DO NOT LET THIS SITUATION BRING OUT THE WORST IN YOU
While our abilities to engage in social activities are under restriction, initial discomfort starts setting in and it usually swiftly results in a range of negative emotions, such as irritability, lack of patience, restlessness and frustration, engendering a myriad of family conflicts.
In fact, I am quite an independent person as I had been living alone for six months before social distancing guidelines were implemented. However, I am quite a calm person and, thus, I have not experienced much tension during lockdown. But that doesn't necessarily mean that I am enjoying it, because I am not. I am not because I wish I were with my friends right now. I am not because, as strange as it may seem strange to some, I miss going to school.
However, every cloud has a silver lining! And we must not let this situation bring out the worst in us!
I strongly suggest that we all use this time to focus on ourselves. Working on improving ourselves and trying to figure out what we truly desire while giving ourselves a well deserved break are two essential things that will help us maintain a vital balance. Keeping ourselves entertained by engaging in different activities will get our minds off the current stressful situation. I, for instance, have just started working on a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle and I find it a great way to relax.
Therefore, I have learnt that accepting the reality that we are currently living in, as well as our own feelings is the only way that we can "survive" this.
