A CHANGING GLOBAL PARADIGM - A DIRE NEED FOR ADAPTABILITY
"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent. It is the one that is most adaptable to change." - Charles Darwin
Changes happen every day. And let's face it: THE PACE OF CHANGE IS NOT SLOWING DOWN! Thus, in such volatile and unpredictable times it is of paramount importance that people develop the ability to respond to the changes occurring in the surrounding environment and adapt proactively to novel paradigms. Being adaptable means being a perpetual optimist and exhibiting extraordinary resilience. Adaptability skills can be possessed in both attitude and action, which are profoundly interdependent.
In fact, despite most people's proclivity for associating change with negative upshots, in reality, the uncertainty of change typically brings about auspicious opportunities to prove our capabilities and ultimately enhance our adapting skills. Sagacious people consistently seek out change and pursue it feverishly, understanding that to be truly innovative and ahead of trends you must embrace the diversity of today's world.
The truth is that we are not born adaptable. Adaptability is something that we develop, something that we learn along the way. There is no universal recipe for becoming more adaptable. We all must learn to mould our personalities in such a way that we become who we truly aspire to be.
Moreover,
the coping mechanisms that we have had in the past will not necessarily work in
the future, as different situations require different approaches. Thus, we must
take the time and attention to prepare and develop ourselves in advance of the
change. We need to be aware of how we respond to change so that we don't cause
ourselves anxiety and remorse merely because we are acting incongruously with
who we truly are.
All in all, in today's society adaptability has become by far the most important of qualities, as it enables us to seize every opportunity we may encounter and constantly improve ourselves. Thus, it has become our job to learn how to proactively adapt to change.
